if you have a band or
have some music to play to the world then you need a web site with
streaming media. it is possible to compress music to such an
extent that it can be played by a computer with a dial up modem.
you can get better than AM radio quality at 20 kilo bits per second
(20k) and near CD quality at 128k with Real Player and Windows Media
Player. there is no wait while the music downloads - there is a
ten second or so delay while the track "buffers" and then it starts to
play, regardless of how long the track is. as long as a
connection speed higher than the bit rate of the track is achieved, on
average, then the music plays continuously.

island webservices will
put up to 20 tracks on a web site for no extra charge. all we need is
the audio CD.
the same effect can work
for video although at low bit rates the picture quality will be poor.
for decent video quality you ideally need broadband internet.
island webservices is
also able to offer live streaming using Real Player, Windows Media
Player, Shoutcast, Icecast or Quicktime. check out the
Isle of
Wight Web-Hosting Company web site for details. prices start
at £10 per month with no set up fee. |
