if you have a band or have some music to play to the world then you need a web site with streaming media.  it is possible to compress music to such an extent that it can be played by a computer with a dial up modem.  you can get better than AM radio quality at 20 kilo bits per second (20k) and near CD quality at 128k with Real Player and Windows Media Player.  there is no wait while the music downloads - there is a ten second or so delay while the track "buffers" and then it starts to play, regardless of how long the track is.  as long as a connection speed higher than the bit rate of the track is achieved, on average, then the music plays continuously.
